  • A snapshot of the Professional and Occupational Licenses in Colorado, Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies, Division of Professions and Occupations; Electrical and Plumbing license types only as of October 6, 2026. The board's live lookup may differ.
  • Colorado licenses electricians and plumbers at state level. This dataset covers every DORA profession; only the license types the publisher files under its Electrical and Plumbing categories are counted, 230,331 rows in any status.
  • Business registrations and individual licenses are counted separately. Electrical: 4,823 active contractor businesses and 37,704 active individual licenses and registrations. Plumbing: 3,187 active contractor businesses and 18,346 active individual licenses and registrations.
  • The all-type active total of 64,060 adds businesses and individuals, including apprentices, so it is not a count of contractors or of people.
  • 6,763 active electrical records and 89 active plumbing records show an expiration date on or before the snapshot date. Most electrical ones carry the electrical renewal date that passed just before the snapshot, so the status may lag renewals and electrical active counts may run high until the publisher updates them.
  • General contractors, roofers and HVAC contractors are not in this dataset, so no count is shown for those trades.
  • Cities come from the mailing address on file, not where the work is done. 6,924 active records with an out-of-state address are left out of the city table.
  • 3,819 records of these license types carry a board program action in the dataset, in any status. Actions include stipulations, admonitions, cease and desist orders, citations, revocations, filed complaints and denied applications, so this is not a count of proven violations. The publisher says the data is for research purposes and makes no guarantee of accuracy or completeness.
  • The dataset is refreshed nightly; these counts are a snapshot as of October 6, 2026.
  • This data has been modified for use from its original source, which is the State of Colorado. The State of Colorado makes no representations or warranty as to the completeness, accuracy, timeliness or content of this data.
How these counts are defined
Disciplinary actions
License records of these types, in any status, that carry a board action such as a stipulation, admonition, cease and desist order, citation, revocation, filed complaint or denied application. Only actions attached to a current license record appear, so this is not a full action history or a count of proven violations.
Active records past their expiration date
Records the publisher still shows as active whose expiration date is on or before the snapshot date, by trade. Many carry a renewal date that passed just before the snapshot, so the status may lag renewals.
Rows Total
Records of the electrical and plumbing license types in any status. The source covers every profession the division licenses; only these types are counted.
Active
A record counts as active when the publisher lists it as active, active with conditions, or active restricted. Every other status is left out.
Active Total
All active electrical and plumbing records. It adds contractor businesses, individual licenses, apprentices and work permits together, so it is not a count of contractors or of people.
Active by license type
Active records by the publisher's license type, marked as held by a business or an individual. Types with fewer than 10 active records are not shown.
Active by trade
Electrical and plumbing as the publisher groups them; plumbing includes water conditioning. Business and individual records are shown separately. General contractors, roofing and heating and cooling are not in this data.
Cities
City of the mailing address on file for active records in Colorado, businesses and individuals together, spelled as filed; top 50 with 10 or more records.
Expiring within the next year
Active records whose expiration date falls after October 6, 2026 and on or before October 6, 2027.
Active Out Of State
Active records with a mailing address outside Colorado; left out of the city table.
Discipline
License records with a board action attached, actions dated 1983 to 2026, any license status.

Counts only, no personal data. Small groups are left out. Rows marked business, individual or mixed count different holders and are never added together.
